The article has certainly gained the attention of the basketball public across Australia.

The role of the media (in sport or otherwise) is to report what is in the public’s interest, and to some degree, keep those in power accountable.

Opinion columns serve an additional purpose of giving an outside in perspective on a topic (or sport) and encourage debate.
